This is a photo of the new and improved lining in place! What a difference it made, from looking home-made to store bought !!
I cut out a new facing, sewed that facing right side to right side along the top and sides of the jacket, and ironed the seams open and flat. Of course, I trimmed the two corners before turning right side out. This was then ironed flat and a top-stitch was added as close to the edge of the jacket as possible. I kept the same lining I had used earlier, but tucked this under the maroon material. Impressive, is all I can say. I can't believe how clean it looks.
