Zira Appliance on me

Before I trimmed off the excess foam. I still have to cut more around the eyes but I was afraid to. Amazing how the mask if quite expressive!

Zira Apemania Appliance

It was delivered to my work address yesterday. I am dying to go home and put it on. It's gorgeous. I ordered it raw, but somebody has put paint on it. It's absolutely gorgeous and fits my face so nicely. Brian even threw in a set of Zira teeth. How nice of him. Sooooo exciting. I was thinking of making my own deluxe pullover hood. Thank goodness my mom did not throw out my pattern that I had made from Greg's mask. Yay! My ape dreams are slowly coming true.

Cornelius, Mego Scale

I have some crazy plans for Cornelius. I'm currently sanding down his neck plug into a ball joint, for better poseability. He should be able to look up and down instead of just sideways. I want to photograph him writing down something or looking in a manila folder. I think that would look cool.

Nancy Kwan

A stranger once told me I looked like Nancy Kwan. I didn't know who that was and had to look it up. I don't see the resemblance, though.

Mego scale Cornelius

The head as you know is an enlarged Medicom Sculpt with minor modifications. I sanded down the pompadour and resculpted hair and ears with Apoxie. Then, I repainted his face. The shine of the face was cut down by adding baby powder to the face paint before application.

I really love this photograph, as the flowers are also in focus. Lucky shot, since it was taken with the settings on auto, macro setting. I love how the light and shadow plays on his face.

Here he is almost looking at the camera:

Hot Off the Apevine!!

There are rumors of a Fox/Apemania promotion of the 40th Anniversary and BluRay release of the Planet of the Apes last week of November through first week of December. Exact date and venue still a moving target. It would be lovely to go ape with my simian friends on that side of the pond!!

I am to be in Manchester around that time. What are the chances of me being able to make it to London in full ape regalia? How do I go about it? Do I rent a room for one night and put on my makeup for the event...? (It takes six hours to put on the makeup)...Will I be able to release the family chains so I could go ape with my simian buddies?????

I already told my SIL, and she was not very pleased...The future could be bright, but the negative energy is dulling the shine....

Chimp shoe saga...

Here is one of the shoes I have created. It looks beautiful after being covered up in this delicious dark cocoa brown fabric:

Too bad...!

I lost the bid for this very cute laboratory set, 1/6 scale, which would have been perfect for Zira's laboratory.

I love this photograph

My obsession

If you haven't noticed, I'm really obsessed with Planet of the Apes. Why this obsession? I don't know and couldn't care less. Planet of the Apes makes me feel good. I can't explain it myself, and I can't explain it to people. Thank God for the internet--I am able to network with other like-minded apes. Their passion fuels my passion. It's a catch 22, and I love it.

My chimp shoes

While I await for Cornelius and friend to contact me for the lifemold to get the Zira appliances going, I am creating my own chimp shoes, which will save me $950 from Apemania. Here is a pair of $2.50 shoes I purchased at 75% off from Walgreens--such a steal!!

I sculpted with Crayola Magic Clay some ape toes on the outside of the shoes. After drying for 24 hours, the clay will be covered with a dark brown denim fabric I recently bought from Joanne's for about $8/yard.

Hieroglyph

Through the generosity of a fellow ape, I recently received one latex cast of a chimp hieroglyph, just perfect for my outfit. It's a lot smaller than I expected, but looks so amazingly beautiful on my outfit. Thank you very much, GoapeBilly for this hieroglyph. I will recreate the halfmoon myself with craft foam covered by the fake leather material I am currently using.

Chimp Inner Sleeve

This is a photograph of a sweater that I have been eyeing to sacrifice for my outfit. I think the weave/color is perfect. It is missing nubs but I may be able to recreate that with a little bit of sandpaper...

Here is a photo that comes up occasionally on Ebay, which has a great colored shot of the inner sleeve:

Enlarged Medicom Cornelius

Time to paint this guy. My first couple of tries didn't work, but this was the best I got and it's still not good enough:

So...I removed his teeth and really smoothed out the paint on his skin. There's still undertones of the colors underneath, only not so obvious. He looks loads better!

I need to sand down the hill of the front part of his hair and add more fullness to the top sides of his head because he looks like Elvis, and also because his head is pretty narrow at the moment. I think when I'm done he will look great and I will be satisfied with him.

I also realized that there's not that much time left until Halloween! I better get cracking on my UFO outfit. I am thinking I will have to spray my black boots silver...but they're pretty gone anyway. That's what you get when you don't get real leather boots. Fleather does not last beyond two seasons...
